Combining Tradition with New Opportunities

Council History

Kingsnorth has had a village community since before the Roman occupation. This continuity has laid down a solid foundation of good judgement and tradition.

In the 21st century Kingsnorth has a marvellous opportunity to welcome new residents to enrich what is already a very good place to live and work
.
The aims of the Parish Council are to fight to preserve all that is good from the past, including the rural nature of the area, while recognising the tremendous potential from new blood that will continue to add talents and enthusiasm to the community.

KINGSNORTH PARISH COUNCIL acts as a link between its parishioners, Ashford Borough Council, Kent County Council and other bodies to which it communicates matters of concern. It is consulted on planning applications in the parish, on the Local Plan and on other matters of local government policy.

The Parish Council owns and maintains the playing field, sports pavilion and play area situated between Park Farm and Kingsnorth village. It can give grants to help organisations with projects that benefit the local community.

Council members represent the Parish Council on other local organisations including Kingsnorth and Furley Park Primary Schools, Kingsnorth Village Hall and Park Farm Recreation Centre. Councillors also attend liaison meetings with the Borough Council, the Police and the Kent Association of Parish Councils. Parish Council elections are held every four years; the next is in 2007.

Meetings are usually held at 7.30 p.m. in the Sports Pavilion on the last Thursday in each month, except for August and December. You are very welcome to attend. Meeting agendas are put on the Parish Council's community notice boards at least three days before each meeting. At present these are situated near the Queen's Head; Central Park on Park Farm; Langney Drive, Washford Farm; Stubbs Cross bus shelter; Steeds Lane; Furley Park Primary School and Kingsnorth Primary School.
